AJA Workshop by The Green Register: Intro to Sustainable Building Practices

This session, run by trainer Lucy Pedler, director of The Green Register, is designed to outline the basic principles of sustainable building.

 

Who is this session for?

The session is ideal for anyone as an introduction to sustainable building: the training offers foundation knowledge for any professional, including architects, engineers, surveyors and contractors.

 

Topics will include:

  • Global issues
  • National issues including key legislation (present and future)
  • Essential definitions
  • Key issues relating to heat loss: insulation, thermal mass, windows & doors
  • Moisture movement, airtightness, indoor air quality and ventilation
  • Low carbon technologies
  • Interior finishes, wellbeing & healthy buildings
  • Reducing water use
  • Overheating
  • Materials and reducing waste
  • Heritage issues

The training session will run until 12.00. There will then be a 30-minute open discussion to explore how Jersey can work towards it’s zero carbon targets by 2030.

  • AJA Members: Free as included in annual fees
  • Non-AJA Members: £20 per person

A Zoom link will be circulated to all those registered before the event and only those on the registration list will be let in to the event.
